Wednesday Workout: My Favorite Kickboxing Combos {Take 4}

Good morning! I’m so happy to say that I FINALLY have some more kickboxing combinations for you. The existing kickboxing combination posts on B2B are by far the most popular blog posts to date, which makes me happy because I love being able to share helpful posts for you guys! If you missed those, here they are:

Kickboxing Combos pt 1
Kickboxing Combos pt 2
Kickboxing Combos pt 3

If you’re new to kickboxing/boxing/punches, I suggest you check out the first post that I linked above since that breaks down each punch for you.

As I was going through my instructor notebook to pick out some good combos to share, I realized that I should probably try doing this more frequently– I have SO many more that I want to share with you! For now, these will have to do:

Jack & Jab, Shuffle & Jab, Center Jabs & Oblique Twist, Sumo Jump Squats

  • Do 1 jumping jack and then 1 right jab to the front. Repeat with the jack and then the jab on the left
  • Shuffle & jab 3 times to the right, clap, then shuffle & jab 3 times to the left
  • Hold center and do 4 alternating jabs followed by 4 oblique twists
  • 2 sumo jump squats

Speed Bag Rt & Lt, Jack Feet & Jab arms, Single-Single-Double Uppercuts Rt & Lt, 4 Hops Up & Back & 4 High Knees

  • Speed bag punches by your right hip for 4 counts then do them by your left hip for 4 counts
  • While you jack your feet in and out you’ll perform 4 alternating jabs to the front
  • Right uppercut, left uppercut, 2 upper cuts on the right, then repeat and do left, right, 2 on the left
  • Bring your guard up and hop forward and back 4 times followed by 4 high knees

Jab, Jab, Jab, Cross, Jab, Cross (x2), 2 Left Knees, 2 Right Cross Jabs, 4 High Knees + Sumo Squat

  • Standing in the orthodox fighters position (left foot forward, right foot back), do a jab, another jab and then do jab, cross, jab cross and repeat that for a total of two times
  • Do 2 left knee repeaters followed by 2 cross body jabs with the right hand
  • End with 4 high knees into a sumo squat

Single, Single, Double Jab Right & Left Lead, 2 Knees on the Right & Left, Burpee + 2 Push-Ups

  • Jab right, left, double right then left, right double left
  • Bring your knees up twice on the right and left
  • Bring yourself down and back into a high plank, do 2 push-ups then jump yourself back up

Cross Body Hi/Lo Jabs X2, 3 Knees + 1 Kick, Speed Bag Arms W/2 Hops Up & Back, Burpee

  • Perform a cross body jab at chest height and waist height (hi & lo) twice (so, jab high, low, high, low) with the left arm
  • Then, do 3 right knees & a kick
  • Bring your arms to chest high while doing the speed bag and do 2 small hops up and back
  • Finish with 1 burpee

And there you go! I hope you find these helpful as you try and do your own at-home kickboxing workout OR if you’re an instructor and need some new combos for your class. As always, please don’t hesitate to ask me if you have ANY questions. While I realize kickboxing is very different than boxing now that I actually teach heavy bag boxing, as long as you understand that these combinations are not meant to teach you how to fight we’re all set 🙂 They are merely a way to give you a great cardio workout, but I do make sure people at least know the basics of the punches so that they don’t injure themselves.

Playing Catch-Up

Hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, huh? Last week was one of those weeks where I had really wanted to post at the beginning of the week, but didn’t have time because I was helping RM with some stuff and then by the time that freed up and I had time to blog, I just didn’t feel like it. But, I’m back today and hopefully at least a few more times throughout the week because I missed blogging and missed all of you!

Although last week was busy, it was a good week! I was able to head down to our new office location in Rockland to work for a day, I taught some fun classes, I got in a lot of great workouts and RM and I had a really amazing weekend on the Cape. All in all, no complaints here except for the fact that it’s already Monday again 😉

Loved having Athena in class last week!

IMG_6008

I had exactly 27 minutes to get in my own workout and get ready to teach my class last week… it’s amazing what you can get done in 20 minutes!

IMG_6026

Congrats to the winner of the giveaway at the class I taught at Legacy Place last week!

IMG_6028

Went to an awesome class at B/Spoke Cape House– I woke up with a not-so-lovely wine headache so it felt good to sweat all of that out!

IMG_6030

On Saturday night, RM and I headed into Hyannis for a change of pace. We went to a little restaurant called Naked Oyster and had some delicious oysters & shrimp, clam chowder, salad and scallops. Everything was fantastic- I highly suggest checking it out if you’re in the area.

IMG_6035

We had two amazingly perfect beach days!

IMG_6044

We came home to a Just Add Cooking delivery and I whipped up one of their meals last night and it was fantastic- more to come on that!

And that about sums up the weekend! As for this week, if you’re looking to sweat with me you have 3 chances:

  • Tonight, 6:30pm “Seaport Sweat” cardio kickboxing on the greenery area outside of Gather & District Hall. It’s free, there’s a live DJ and it’s outside- that combination makes for a great class!
  • Tomorrow night, 6pm Bags & Beats at GymIt in Watertown
  • Saturday, 10am Cardio kickboxing at the Oak Square YMCA

I hope you have a great start to your week- chat with you later!

Questions for you: What’s going on in your life these days? Anything new or exciting? How was your weekend? Did you get to the beach or get any good workouts in? What’s on your agenda this week?

Weekending {Extended Version}: Birthday Celebrations & Marathon Monday

Good morning! I opted to not blog yesterday as I had the day off and figured a lot of you may also have it off or may even be running the marathon! Between taking my birthday off last week, working from home on Friday and then having yesterday off, I feel like I’ve been on a little vacation, which is pretty awesome. With everything going on these days between wedding planning, the BoxFIIT certification, teaching, blogging, working, etc. I feel like I was running on empty and really needed some time to re-charge the batteries. Granted, the past week has been filled with lots of things, but most didn’t involve work which helped give me that “recharge” I needed.

I’m going to keep my captions short, so enjoy the pictures!

All dolled up! Love the new bag RM got me

IMG_4649

My sister surprised me with a bottle of bubbly at dinner. We went to Committee in the Seaport and everything was unbelievably good- we couldn’t stop raving about how flavorful everything was AND they sent out a birthday treat- I highly suggest checking it out!

Post kickboxing sweaty selfie.

Entertaining my parents- I’m so sad that I didn’t get a single photo with them while they were here 😦

Food shopping

Pancake breakfast

IMG_4660

Birthday presents from my dad- picnic table, fire pit and a heck of a lot of wood. It was SO nice of them to come down not only to celebrate, but also to bring all of these things to help us have an awesome back yard/patio!

IMG_4664

4miler in gorgeous weather. I wish I could say it was a great run, but my legs felt like lead the entire time and my miles averaged 15-20 seconds slower than usual… BUT… I finished it and it felt great to be outside. Who cares about the mile times!

IMG_4667

Taking advantage of the sun and doing my thank you cards for the bridal shower gifts we’ve received outside. And then I started reading Defending Jacob, which is our new book club book. So far, I’m enjoying it, although it’s crazy that it takes place in Newton!

IMG_4672

Beer at home by myself: a rarity, but the weather encouraged it 😉

IMG_4677 IMG_4678

Meal prep for the week: a cauliflower rice & other veggie “stirfry” with a peanut sauce and then a veggie-filled quiche- both have so much flavor!!

IMG_4679 IMG_4681

Loving our outdoor patio space! Took my workout outside yesterday morning and it was amazing.

IMG_4682 IMG_4684

We walked from the Intercontinental Hotel (where RM parks his car) to the Back Bay and it was so nice strolling through Boston Common’s in the gorgeous weather.

IMG_4685 IMG_4688

We were fortunate enough to hang out at the Solas Pub (part of the Lennox Hotel) pretty much right at the Marathon finish line thanks to New Balance- drinks, food, prime spectator location?! Yes, please. So thankful for this opportunity!

IMG_4692

Watching the marathon is always a super emotional and inspiring thing. I love watching everyone who is finishing strong, but I also love how everyone is looking out for each other. The crowds roared even louder when struggling runners were trying to get to the end. Fellow marathoners helped those who were physically too beat to run on their own. Paramedics and EMT’s and all of the other helpers were there to help get people safely over the finish line. It gave me chills soaking all of that in. Such a wonderful experience.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU! I’ll be back tomorrow with a workout… and maybe even a recipe for you this week!

Questions for you: How was your weekend? Did you get outside to enjoy the weather? Did you go to the marathon or did you run the marathon? What do you have planned this week?

Weekending: Through Pictures

Good morning! Anyone else grumpy from this crazy “April” weather?! My birthday is in t-minus 10 days and I really hope it’s seasonably warm by that point. Also, today we are exactly 3 months out from our wedding- EEEKK! With that said, the weekend was filled with a lot of wedding talk and shopping- trying to get things checked off the list as much as possible!

IMG_4501

Opted for the burrito bowl at Buff’s Pub on Friday night instead of wings- so tasty!

IMG_4507 IMG_4510

Bachelorette Party shopping at Bebe

IMG_4512 IMG_4513

Date night stop 1: drinks and the most amazing hummus & fresh, warm pita combo at Tavern Road. HOLY YUM

IMG_4514 IMG_4516 IMG_4515 IMG_4520

Date night stop 2: Stumbled upon Pastoral and were blown away by how good the pizza (and Brussels Sprouts) were. Two new-to-us spots in one night?! Awesome!

IMG_4527

A post semi-workout selfie… I went to the gym to film some Box FIIT video submissions and did a tiny workout after- realized I was more sore and tired than I thought so I called it quits quickly.

IMG_4529

Another Just Add Cooking delivery- can’t wait to make these Asian-inspired dishes this week!

Not picture from the weekend: After work drinks at the Gaslight at the M Street shops with some girls from the office on Friday, teaching on Saturday, MOH dress shopping with my sister and her friends and then post shopping drinks at Stoddards, shopping for wedding shoes, Sunday morning pancakes, food shopping and visiting RM’s brother and SIL at their new house in Concord.

Questions for you: How was your weekend? Did you do something fun? Visit any new restaurants? Shop at all? How are you feeling about this crap weather? What’s going on this week?

Weekending: Girls Night, Day Dates & Home To Maine

Good morning! Blogging here from Maine, which is a nice treat- and a lovely perk of getting to work from home 😉 The weather over the past weekend was so perfect- I couldn’t help but be in a great mood the whole time!

After work on Friday, my friend Stephanie (from work) and I grabbed a quickie drink at the new Gaslight in Lynnfield at the M Street Shops. It was such a great way to end the work week!

IMG_4310

From there, I made my way to Somerville for a girls night with my SMC girls. Per usual, we had a great time laughing, snacking on delicious food and drinking my new favorite rose bubbly.

IMG_4312 IMG_4311 IMG_4316

I started Saturday off by teaching another super sweaty cardio kickboxing class- the best way to start my day! IMG_4317

After class, RM and I went into the city for some shopping and lunching- two of my favorite SaturDAY activities. We shared a burger and salad at Abe & Louie’s and everything was fantastic!

IMG_4318

From the Back Bay, we headed to Faneuil Hall to hit up a few stores and finished with ice creams… the weather was too good NOT to have an ice cream 😉 (ok, I’m kidding. I never need an excuse to get an ice cream- duh.)

IMG_4319 IMG_4320

Once we got home, we lounged and binge-watched Breaking Bad until bedtime.

After breakfast on Sunday, I packed up and headed up to Maine. Mom and I met at the Publick House in Springvale for lunch which is always delicious (again, no picture of the food- just the booze. oops).

IMG_4327

Since it was so gorgeous, I laced up and went for a 3 miler. Thank God it was beautiful out because the run was hard- so.many.hills!!

IMG_4329

After my run, we got to work on centerpieces with a few of my mom’s friends. I wanted a simple look and I think we achieved that! The gold charger is going to be replaced with birch wood for the actual wedding.

IMG_4333

I keep looking at it and just love the white flowers! And, my dad had loads of mason jars for me to use so that was easy.

Dinner was a delicious pork chop, sweet potato, broccoli, carrots and green beans. I love being home and having my parents cook for me 🙂

And that about wraps it up! I hope all of you had a great weekend and are kicking off this week with a positive mindset.

Questions for you: What did you do this weekend? Did you get outside to soak up the warm weather? Did you have any good meals? What’s on the agenda for this week? Any workouts you’re looking forward to?
