What do you do when….

You forget an essential item for the gym? Think: sports bra, good socks, hair elastic, headphones, etc… I know I am not alone when I say that this has happened to me more times than I would like to admit. You would think that I would always have these items packed up and ready since I am at the gym more often than I would like to admit, but just recently I forgot an elastic for a class AND another time when I was running a 5K.

Last night, though,Β it wasn’t me that forgot something, but luckily I could help.Β  It just meant that I had to teach like this:

Yup. I let a member (don’t worry, she wasn’t a random member… we are Facebook friends so that makes us pretty much besties, right?!) borrow my sneakers.Β  It was our midway benchmark workout for Dynamax Boot Camp and I was not about to let her miss out on that just because she forgot her sneakers! Luckily we were the same size and luckily I had already gotten really sweaty:

[Yes, my shirt says “No one has ever drowned in their own sweat”… although yesterday, I think I almost did. The best part about this shirt is it has a message on the back that is only revealed when you sweat a lot. I love it. Check out this site for more awesome shirts like this! http://www.viewsport.us/]

Anyway, she was able to workout and I was still able to do a lot… I call that a win-win!

Question for you: What is the worst gym essential that you have forgotten?

Wow, that was so nice of you! I forgot my sports bra once. Since I’m as flat at a 10 year old boy, my regular bra was OK for a quick jog. I like this post because most people would just pack it up and head home. It reminds me of something I heard today- ask yourself “how can I?” not “I can’t because…”

I love that, Jess! thanks for sharing… I am going to put that on a post-it near my computer as a constant reminder:)

ps i am the same way. forgetting a sports bra is the least of my concerns:)

Barefoot running…it’s what all the cool kids are doing these days!!! Seriously though, it’s gaining more and more support in the scientific literature too. Although still big debate on what is best for optimal performance.

Love this, just shows what a great instructor you are! I have forgotten socks multiple times, which makes your sneakers smell awful, but I didn’t want to miss my workout! Last time i did that, I threw my sneaks in the washing machine after. That did the trick πŸ™‚

This is so embarrassing but ill post it anyway! So I am always running from one job to another but never miss the gym HOWEVER my constant running and leaving the house at 7am and not returning until 9pm or later means I have to pack for everything early in the morning, or the night before. I don’t have enough fingers to count the amount of times I’ve forgotten underwear for after my shower. The last time it happened, I had to go all the way home (nope-not doing commando) and after that I vowed to keep a pair in my car. That came in handy last week when I found myself with two pairs of jeans and no underwear…you can never win. You’re the best for letting someone borrow your shoes! And I totally want that shirt!
