Free Fitness This Summer: Street Sweat {& a sweet giveaway!}

What’s better than outdoor workouts in the summer? FREE outdoor workouts in the summer, of course! I don’t know about you, but in the summer months, I just want to be able to workout outside. Living in New England, we are cooped up inside for so many months due to the cold and snowy weather, so once we have nice weather, I really hate being in the gym and look for ways to achieve a great workout while being outside as much as possible.

Which, is why I’m excited to share with you some details on LOTS of free workout events located at The Street in Chestnut Hill throughout the summer. They call this fitness series “Street Sweat”, which I think is a super clever name!

The fitness events range from yoga to bootcamps to cardio resistance and also take place at various times throughout the day and week, which means you’re sure to find a “Street Sweat” workout that fits your schedule and workout preference. In case you don’t believe me, just check out this schedule… pretty impressive, right?! Here’s a sample:

I plan on reaching out to some gym friends to get a #fitfriend date on the calendar to go to a couple of these workouts for sure.

To kick off summer and get people excited about the Street Sweat workouts, this weekend they are hosting an awesome “Freestyle Fitness” class from 10:30-11:30 which will be lead by Ron Merryman of MOVE. From their site, the class looks to be right up my alley, and I definitely would love to check it out.

This free fitness class features various styles of training to get you moving in ways you haven’t moved before. The class is a high octane boost, utilizing circuits and accessories such as ropes, medicine balls and more to rev up your metabolism and ignite fat burning.

And, to top it off, after the workout you can join Health & Wellness Food Blogger Lexi’s CLean Kitchen inside Lululemon for a fun post-workout gathering. The gathering will include samples of Lexi’s healthy dishes, complimentary hand facials by skoah, juices from Juice Press which is coming to Boston soon and giveaways and swag. I’m really hoping to get to the event since we are no longer going to the Cape!

    My favorite outdoor workout is bootcamp style! It’s so easy to use your body weight to get a GREAT sweat in and being outside – you can’t beat that! Besides who doesn’t love burpees, pushups, squats, etc. with the wind blowing to cool you off?! 🙂

    This looks awesome, thanks for sharing Monique! I hadn’t heard of this before. My favorite outdoor workouts is either an outdoor bootcamp OR something that is usually done indoors (ie Spin) but moved outdoors is so fun!

    Summer rocks because there are so many free outdoor workouts available.

    My favorite is climbing the Harvard Stadium stairs Wed mornings with November Project but you can also often find me at free fitness events on the Greenway in Boston.

    My favorite outdoor workout is bootcamp. There’s something about the expanse of the outdoors that makes bootcamp seem like a workout with endless possibilities! It’s also harder in New England where you have to brave the elements of each season! I’m super excited about the workouts at the Street-thanks for sharing the free fitness!
