Weekending: It was all about the food

Hi there! It’s nice to see that the “big” snow storm has already come and gone- don’t get me wrong, I love snow, but at this point I am ready for sunny, warm, spring days!

Did you guys have a good weekend? Ours was great… and included ALL THE FOOD. No, seriously- it was filled with the most delicious eats. Let’s recap- I hope you’re not hungry šŸ˜‰

Friday night, Liz had some of the gym girls over for a “bar” party. Now, I know what you’re thinking (or at least what I was thinking), it wasn’t an alcohol party, it was a food bar party! There was a taco bar, pizza bar, grilled cheese bar, fruit bar and an ice cream bar. And yes, everything was as amazing as it sounds! It was so great getting to catch up with the girls, especially since a few are also engaged so we did lots of wedding talk. Wedding talk and working out talk pretty much equals my life these days.

On Saturday, it was an extra early weekend wakeup call so that I could get to the gym before we hit the road to go to NH. I was telling Athena that I was really craving a heavy lift sesh. I hadn’t been able to get under the bar all week, so you can imagine my surprise when my Saturday lift felt- dare I say- easy? I felt so strong with my back squats and pushups- it was awesome! And, I didn’t feel the tiniest bit sore the day after so I think I could’ve gone heavier- looking forward to the next time.

After showers and breakfast (RM had pancakes made and waiting for me when I got back from the gym- he’s a keeper!), we swung through Starbucks and hit the road. Since I never finish my drink (Chai Tea Latte with 1/2 the syrup pump), I ordered a kiddie size. it was perfect!

The trip north went smooth and we arrived at the Wentworth before we knew it.

I felt awkward taking pictures of all the food we tried, but let me tell you that everything was fantastic!! There were passed apps to try, stationary items and then we sat down for a buffet meal getting a chance to sample their most popular items. Oh, and then we got to try their late night pizza and sliders. I know wedding food isn’t typically known for being good, but at the Wentworth everything is locally grown and freshly prepared so I think our guests are in for a real treat.

After the event was over, RM took a long nap (aka: food coma) and I read- I hadn’t relaxed like that in forever. It was glorious. For dinner, we walked over to the Wild Cat Tavern and surprisingly I worked up enough of an appetite for a salad and cup of French Onion Soup. We were in bed super early and both slept for 10 hours- thank God. I needed that! For breakfast we got their pancake of the day which was apple-cinnamon and eggs and hash. No picture, but it looked similar to this

When we got back home, we found ourselves hungry for lunch so we walked over to Buff’s Pub and shared some wings (and I had a salad, too) and beers. It was a perfect way to cap off the weekend.

And finally, as part of the Just Add Cooking ambassadorship I’m a part of, we were sent 3 meals to try out. We tested out the Kofte Kabobs first and- WOW- not only were they super easy to prepare but they were so delicious. We literally couldn’t stop raving about them. I can’t wait to share more about the program later this month!

Oh, and we spent hours prepping all the veggies, which makes healthy eating so much easier to do.

And lastly, we watched the FINAL EPISODE of Breaking Bad and oh my God do I have questions: What happened to Jesse? Did he get back into drugs? Did he make a better life for himself? What about Walt’s wife and family? And the sister? I wish they would’ve written an epilogue!

Questions for you: How was your weekend? Did you eat any good meals? Did you get in any food prep? What about workouts?

Your wedding food tasting looks wonderful! I remember at ours, the food was just OK, but then on our actual wedding day the food ended up being WAY better than at our tasting, and it was fantastic! A nice little relief for me šŸ™‚ As for Breaking Bad… I like to think that Jesse made a new life for himself, but I kind of like that they left it so open so that you can kind of make your own decisions about all that! Gah, I love that show so much.

that’s such a relief! I hope ours doesn’t turn out to be bad on the day of the wedding!! And yes, Roberto and I talked about how we hope he made a new life for himself and stayed clean, but he mentioned that people with a drug addiction are that way sometimes because they’re trying to forget everything that brings out certain emotions and he’s been through so much maybe he would revert to that. I hope that’s not the case!
