Weekending: Barcelona Tapas & Wine Bar, Fitfluential Ambassador news & Dealing with Disappointment

Well hello there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted a “weekending” post, huh? Since I tried out a new restaurant and have some exciting news to share, I thought today was the perfect day to do it!

On Friday night, I went out to dinner and drinks at Barcelona Wine Bar in the South End with my friend Lindsay and her roommate. Both girls teach at Recycle Studio so it’s always fun to get together with them because we don’t have to feel bad about our conversations revolving around teaching and working out 😉

While there was a crazy long wait for a table (I even got there at 6 and put our names in and we didn’t get seated until 7:45!), it was well worth it! And, the experience while waiting wasn’t that bad either since they walked around with some items from the menu for us to try. The atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant was really cool and if you looked around, it was clear that everyone was enjoying themselves- a good sign if you ask me! We sipped some bubbly and by the time we were finally seated, we were more than ready to eat. Luckily, the service was awesome and the food came out super fast.

We ordered a bunch of different things and everything was unbelievably good. The Brussels Sprouts were so good we ordered 2 rounds of them! I didn’t take pictures of everything because it was starting to get annoying since there were so many small plates coming to us, but to round up, we ordered:

  • Patatas Bravas
  • Prawns a la Plancha
  • Brussels Sprouts (x2!)
  • Crispy Calamari
  • Braised Short Ribs
  • Albondigas
  • Churros Y Chocolate

Lindsay really meant to give the Churros a TWO thumbs up because OH MY GOD were those things freaking amazing! The whole night was just really great- good drinks, delicious food, fantastic company… and to top it off? I received this email when we were waiting for a table:

I cannot begin to describe how EXCITED I was to see the email saying that I was accepted to be a Fitfluential Ambassador!!! I applied a few weeks/month ago and was shocked to see that not only had I been accepted, that it was such a quick turnaround. This email seriously made my night! By being a Fitfluential Ambassador, I’ll get the chance to be exposed to so many new audiences and to expand, promote and grow this little blog by reviewing new products from various companies. The free swag associated with the ambassador program is just icing on the cake 😉

Saturday I taught a packed house cardio kickboxing class and then RM and I did a bunch of errands in and around the city. Have you been to the new Whole Foods in the South End?? It is AMAZING. Seriously- one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) grocery stores I’ve ever been in! It has everything and it’s all brand new and just really cool. I highly suggest checking it out if you have the chance!

On Sunday, I was supposed to head up to New Hampshire with some other girls for our friend Nikia’s bridal shower. Sadly, we only made it to Medford before we got calls from friends who were already much further en route saying that it was the worst driving they had ever experienced and that we should turn around. While I wasn’t thrilled about being in the car for 4 hours (2 hours each way), I was looking forward to spending the day with my friends and catching up, drinking bubbly and eating cake, so I was disappointed that plans changed. But, more than anything I felt so bad for Nikia! She must’ve been so excited for her shower and I’m sure she had been looking forward to it for months. Poor thing 😦 I will say, though, she handled it so well! She knew how bad the roads were and just wanted everyone to be safe. I would’ve been throwing a major hissy fit if that was me! How do you handle disappointment? Do you look on the positive side of things or let yourself get wrapped up in the negative aspects of disappointment?

And that rounds out the weekend! Per usual, it came and went too fast, but thankfully I had time on Sunday night to do my food prep and a little blog work so it helped make yesterday less busy.

Questions for you: Have you been to the Barcelona Wine Bar? Have you been to the new Whole Foods? Where’s your favorite grocery store to shop at? When’s the last time you celebrated something? When’s the last time you were disappointed?

Sorry that you weren’t able to attend your friend’s shower but I’m sure she would rather you be safe!!
